Sara Ramirez in Spamalot

"My first job in New York was monitoring the standing room ticket line for Spamalot. One of the perks was watching the show from the back of the theater on a nightly basis. Sara Ramirez blew me away every single time I saw the show (a lot). Her perfectly-timed comedy and vocal pyrotechnics were always effortless and spot-on. DIVA!"

Amy Morton in August: Osage County

"I had the great pleasure of watching this piece three times! The play is long, but the night always seemed to speed by amongst all the deadly zingers. Amy Morton commanded the stage alongside a cast of very powerful performers with her strength, emotion and comic timing.”

Meryl Streep in Mother Courage

"I saw Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline play opposite each other in the park during previews. At one point, Ms. Streep clearly fumbled on a line and fell into a fit of giggles. She had to turn upstage to regain composure. I will never forget it. Even perfection can get the giggles on stage."

Kelli O'Hara in South Pacific

"From the moment the stage pulled back during the gorgeous overture to reveal the 30-piece orchestra, I was in tears. I cried my way through the entire show and was completely enraptured with Kelli's joyous and thoughtful portrayal. Ms. O'Hara really knows how to sing lyrics directly into your soul.”

Sahr Ngaujah in FELA!

“I worked for eight years for the inimitable producer Ruth Hendel. One of the joys of my time with her was watching the development of her musical FELA! and of its star Sahr Ngaujah. Having seen the show countless times from Off-Broadway to Broadway, I can say the man never gives less than 200%. He is a tireless and fierce performer.”

Tony Sheldon in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

"It is no small feat to turn disco into deep truth. Mr. Sheldon made even the most mundane of the booty-popping lyrics seem profound. Completely genuine and beguiling, his Bernadette made my heart ache and smile."

Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Death of a Salesman

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have seen PSH perform in the last stage role of his too short life. He was so completely immersed in the humiliation and pain of Willy Loman. It was difficult to watch. I can't imagine what it was like to experience as the performer each night. I had to look away several times during the show."

Bobby Cannavale in The Motherf**ker With the Hat

"I cannot even begin to imagine how Bobby Cannavale was able to perform eight shows a week in this incredibly demanding piece. He seemed to operate on an unsustainable level of keyed-up anger and passion that never ceased yet was perpetually compelling."
