News They Write the Songs Concert to Feature Rebecca Luker, Karen Mason, Alysha Umphress and More Rebecca Luker, Penny Fuller, Karen Mason and Alysha Umphress will perform the music of Jeff Blumenkrantz, Johnny Rodgers and Mary Liz McNamara as part of MAC Presents They Write the Songs, an evening of music from established and emerging writers, Nov. 18 at Baruch College.

Grammy Award-winning songwriter Julie Gold will host the 4 PM concert that will showcase music by Blumenkrantz, Rodgers, McNamara, Barry Kleinbort, Nate Bucchieri and Scott Evan Davis.

Performers include Luker (Nine, The Secret Garden), Fuller (Cabaret, A New Brain), Mason (Mamma Mia!), Umphress (American Idiot, On a Clear Day), Liz Lark Brown, The Marquee Five, Colleen McHugh, Lennie Watts and Jonathan Whitton. Nate Bucchieri will be the musical director.

As part of the evening, MAC (The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) will announce the recipients of the Dottie Burman Award and the John Wallowitch Award. Songs written by these recipients will also be performed at the show.

The concert will culminate in a discussion between Gold and Blumenkrantz. A performance of Blumenktrantz's work will follow the interview.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 day of show. For tickets click here. The performance will take place in the Engelman Recital Hall at Lexington Avenue at 25th Street.
