News "Thicker Than Water" 2006 Features Three World Premiere Plays in Repertory Youngblood and Ensemble Studio Theatre will present the world premieres of three new plays as part of the "Thicker Than Water 2006" collection.

This, the seventh, collection of new plays by Youngblood members begins Jan. 23 and continues through Feb. 18 at E.S.T. For the first time, the series will present a an evening of two one-acts in repertory with a full-length play.

The "Thicker Than Water 2006" lineup includes:

  • Amy Herzog's Hungry - directed by Christine Farrell ("Law & Order")
    This one-act work featuring Erin McMonagle, Lucia Brizzi, and Rebecca Pace tells the mid-90s-set story of three New Jersey friends — "a blossoming anorexic, a brainy bombshell and the girl your parents warned you about" — who "try to hold onto each other," explains as release.
  • Henrietta Hermaline's Fall From Great Heights by Maggie Smith - dir. Abigail Zealey Bess
    Nicol Zanzarella-Giacalone, Denny Bess and Brendan McMahon star in this one-act "lyrical fantasia" which centers on "a socially backward, chronically allergic young secretary is swept into a world of romance, heartbreak and despair," according to materials. (The above works run together from Jan. 23-Feb. 12 with an opening night slated for Jan. 25.)

  • Kevin Christopher Snipes' A Bitter Taste - directed by R.J. Tolan
    Peter O'Connor, Haskell King and Paul Clark star in the full-length which follows "a mild-mannered college professor and a smooth-talking divorce attorney [who] explore the underbelly of their lifelong friendship after their world is knocked off balance by a prostitute. Who happens to be underaged. And a boy." (Performances will begin Jan. 30 and open Feb. 1 for a run through Feb. 18.)
