It's a great time to see Jesus Christ in New York City. With Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar beginning performances March 23, another retelling of the Gospel story, Stephen Schwartz's Godspell, opens its revival run March 17. Third Eye Rep's Shawn Rozsa directs Shoshana Bean, Tim Cain, Catherine Carpenter, Will Erat, Barrett Foa, Lucia Giannetta, Capathia Jenkins (The Civil War), Chad Kimball, Leslie Kritzer and Eliseo Roman. Shirley Temple of Doom, a rock band not afraid of the musical theatre (their Billy Atwell performed in Third Eye Rep's concert version of Hair in 1998), is the production's house band.
