News Thomson, Storms, Repo-Martell and Fagan Cast in Toronto World Premiere The Patient Hour Tarragon Theatre, Toronto's home for contemporary drama, announced casting for its Feb. 17-March 29 world premiere, The Patient Hour, Kristen Thomson's play about a family reuniting over a mother's sickbed.

Director Chris Abraham's cast in the Tarragon Extra Space will include Patricia Fagan, Liisa Repo-Martell, Waneta Storms and Todd Thomson. Opening is Feb. 25. Playwright Thomson penned and performed Tarragon's popular I, Claudia.

According to Tarrragon notes, "Charles (Todd Thomson) is holding a vigil in a lonely hospital room. He has been called to the bedside of his mother, numbed by a stroke and lost to the conscious world. To his surprise, Laura (Waneta Storms), his troubled older sister arrives. Together with the nurse (Liisa Repo-Martell) and a mysterious young female patient (Patricia Fagan), they wait to see whether their mother will return to the world of the living or step over to the other side."

The new play "promises to be a moving journey of discovery — contemplating the weight of loneliness, the power of reunion, and the unfathomable mystery of each person's inner world."

Abraham is artistic director of Crows Theatre and director of Tarragon's original, remount and touring productions (and film) of I, Claudia. The design team is Julie Fox (sets and costumes), Rebecca Picherack (lights) and Mike Ross (sound). Jessica Severin is the stage manager.
