Caitriona McLaughlin directs the new production, which is scheduled to open Sept. 24 for a run through Oct. 11.
The work by Thurber (Monstrosity, Where We're Born, Stay) enjoyed its world premiere as part of Rattlestick's 2000-01 season. "Killers and Other Family was the first play of Lucy's to reach the stage," said Rattlestick co-founder and artistic director David van Asselt in a statement. "It seemed, somehow appropriate, in our 15th season, to revisit that play, give Lucy a chance to do the rewriting she never got to that first time around, and try to give it the production it deserves."
The new Off-Broadway cast includes Aya Cash (Offices, The Pain and The Itch), Dashiell Eaves (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Coram Boy), Shane McRae (Take Me Out) and Samantha Soule (The Philanthropist, Monstrosity).
"Just when Elizabeth thinks she has finally escaped her previous life, that life comes crashing back in when her brother and his best friend show up, on the run, demanding she hide them," read show notes. "Their arrival forces Elizabeth to truly confront her past, pushing her into a waking nightmare in which fears and memories become all too real."
The design team includes John McDermott (sets), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Ben Ehrenreich (lighting) and Eugenia Furneaux-Arends (props). Terri Kohler is production stage manager with Melissa Gregus as assistant stage manager. The Off-Broadway troupe will continue its 15th anniversary season with Mando Alvarado's Post No Bills (Nov. 11-Dec. 13), Craig Wright's Blind (Feb. 18-March 21, 2010) and Annie Baker's The Aliens (April 15-May 23, 2010).
