News tick, tick...BOOM! — with Neil Patrick Harris — to Open in London June 9 London's Menier Chocolate Factory will go tick, tick...BOOM! on June 9 when Jonathan Larson's posthumously produced show opens.

Neil Patrick Harris stars, fulfilling a long-held ambition — he'd been asked to do the part in its original New York production but was busy filming. So when Scott Schwartz, director for both that Off-Broadway original and this London staging, offered it to him again, he jumped on board.

Harris is best known as the star of the TV series “Doogie Howser MD.” However, he has built a substantial career as a Broadway leading man, with credits including Cabaret, Assassins and Proof. He was also featured in Larson’s other musical Rent.

tick, tick…BOOM!, now adapted (by David Auburn) from a one-man show to a three-hander, is an autobiographical tale about the dilemmas faced by an almost-30-old struggling artist. The show was produced after Larson's sudden death.

Schwartz also directed Bat Boy off and Golda’s Balcony on Broadway. Joining him in the London creative team are choreographer Christopher Gattelli — who recently worked on Altar Boyz in New York and The Baker’s Wife at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. David Farley is on board as designer. And Colin Grenfell, a regular for Improbable Theatre and currently working on their Theatre of Blood at the National, will design the lighting.

The cast also includes the Birtish performers Cassidy Janson as Susan and Tee Jaye as Michael. The show is produced for the Menier Chocolate Factory by David Babani and Danielle Tarento. It will run through Sept. 5. For further information, call (0)20 7907 7060.
