A ticket lottery has worked well for Rent-heads. In December, producers hope it will benefit Hairspray's fans and theatregoers who can't get last-minute tickets to the mega-hit. As of Dec. 3, Mezzanine row U, a total of 25 seats in the back row of the theatre, will be sold in a lottery at the Neil Simon Theatre. Tickets, sold day of performance only, will cost $30. Standing room tickets to Hairspray are currently available for $20 at the box office, day of performance only. The Neil Simon Theatre box office is located at 250 W. 52nd Street. Hairspray began previews July 18 at the newly renovated Neil Simon Theatre for an opening Aug. 15. Two days earlier, the Hairspray original cast album was released by Sony Classical.
