As previously announced, the 7 PM performance will benefit the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative of the Actors' Fund of America. Actress-singer-philanthropist Newman will speak prior to the performance.
Mamma Mia! currently stars Carolee Carmello as Donna Sheridan, Olga Merediz as Rosie, Judy McLane as Tanya, Pearce Bunting as Bill Austin, Michael Mastro as Harry Bright and David McDonald as Sam Carmichael with Carey Anderson (Sophie Sheridan), Andy Kelso (Sky), Ben Gettinger (Pepper), Samantha Eggers (Lisa), Veronica J. The evening, according to press notes, "promises to be full of surprises and celebrity guests." A reception will follow the performance.
Mamma Mia! employs the hit songs of famed pop group ABBA to tell the story of Sophie Sheridan, a young girl who hopes to discover the identity of her father. On the eve of her wedding, she brings three men from her mother Donna's past back to the Greek island they visited over two decades ago.
Mamma Mia! features music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, a book by Catherine Johnson, direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony Van Laast. The musical plays the Winter Garden Theatre, which is located in New York City at 1634 Broadway.
