The limited run will begin Dec. 11, open Dec. 12 and play through Dec. 22 at the famed Broadway house. Gypsy Productions Inc., SuperFrank, Jeff Rowland and Foye Johnson produce the work, which is planning a U.S. national tour for 2007. Mi Soledad (My Solitude) is billed as "a unique 90-minute fusion of flamenco dance, music and song, in which Cortés takes audiences on an intimate and provocative journey through one man’s private emotions."

Backed by a live ten-piece orchestra and a seven-member vocal ensemble, the work combines "the musical rhythms of jazz, classical and flamenco genres." Music and lyrics in the show are by José Carbonell, Antonio Carbonell and Cortés.

The design team for Joaquín Cortés: Mi Soledad features Jean Paul Gaultier (costumes), Francois de la Ossa and Ricardo Requejo (lighting). Antonio Carbonell serves as musical director.

Cortés' previous shows include Cibayí, Gypsy Passion, Live and De Amor y Odio (Of Love and Hate). His Mi Soledad premiered May 2005 in Mexico City and has been performed across the globe.

The Palace recently played host for one night to singer Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of Hell on Broadway" concert. The last musical to play the Palace was Elton John's vampire based Lestat. Next up, the Broadway theatre will see the movie-turned-musical Legally Blonde.
