Interviewed in Britain's Mail, Lloyd Webber told the interviewer, "I'm working with Tim, for the first time in 34 years. He's doing the songs for The Wizard Of Oz with me. The new ones." In fact, Lloyd Webber has worked more recently than 34 years ago with Rice, most notably on an additional song for Alan Parker's 1996 film version of their 1978 musical Evita, "You Must Love Me," which won the 1997 Oscar for Best Music, Original Song. They also collaborated on Cricket, a short musical commissioned for Queen Elizabeth's 60th birthday that was performed at Windsor Castle in June 1986 for one performance only.

In addition to Evita, Rice and Lloyd Webber also collaborated on the unproduced The Likes of Us (unperformed until 2005), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar. Since parting ways, Lloyd Webber has written shows that include Cats, Song & Dance, Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Whistle Down the Wind, Sunset Boulevard, The Beautiful Game, The Woman in White and Love Never Dies with other writing partners that include TS Eliot, Don Black, Richard Stilgoe,  David  Zippel, Charles Hart, Jim Steinman, Christopher Hampton, Ben Elton and Glenn Slater. Rice has provided lyrics for film and stage musicals that include Blondel, Chess, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aida with writing partners that include the late Stephen Oliver as well as Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, Alan Menken and Ben Elton.
