LOS ANGELES -- Times Tix, the half-price ticket outlet that operates under the auspices of Theatre L.A., will end its run at the Beverly Center in W. Hollywood Aug. 2 and transfer to Jerry's Famous Deli across the street (at 8701 Beverly Blvd.) Aug. 6.
Two more Times Tix locations, at Jerry's Famous Delis in Westwood and Studio City, are slated to open early in 1999.
The change is being made to address the need for multiple Times Tix locations in a geographically diverse city such as Los Angeles. Jerry's Famous Deli boasts a long affinity with the Broadway stage; the restaurant decor features show posters and other theatrical memorabilia.
Ike Starkman, CEO of Jerry's Famous Deli Corp., stepped forward to offer his restaurants as same-day, half-price ticket outlets.
"We are very excited to be joining with Theatre L.A. in the effort to make live theatre more available to everyone in Los Angeles," he said. Alisa Fishbach, executive director of Theatre L.A., said, "This new partnership with Jerry's Deli is particularly thrilling because of the opportunity it affords us to have a presence in a variety of neighborhoods. We are confident that the relocation of Times Half Price Tix to the multiple Jerry's locations will bring an increased awareness of theatre in L.A. along with increased ease of accessibility."
Recently Times Tix has offered as many as 60 different performances available at half-price. Beginning August 6, the West Hollywood hours will be Thursday through Sunday from noon to 6 PM. For information regarding ticket availability on any given day, call (310) 659-3678.
