News Timothy Scott Harris' Protected to Hide Out at Fringe Fest; Casting Announced Protected, "a new serio-comedy" by Timothy Scott Harris, will open Aug. 13 at The Connelly Theater, for a run through Aug. 27 as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

Harris will direct a cast including Dee Dee Friedman, Cam Kornman, Jeff Paul, Bill Tatum and Matt Walker.

"Albuquerque, New Mexico may be a great place to hide," press notes state, "but Langley Peterson desperately wants to return to his old life in New York City. Newly inducted into the Witness Protection program, Langley, a highly paid former accountant for the Mob, finds himself in a generic town, employed in a dull job and living alongside a seemingly nosy old neighbour and her germ-phobic daughter. Detecting that he’s a bachelor, mother and daughter awkwardly welcome him with home-made meatloaf. Also welcoming him is an odd young co-worker who has confused Langley’s insistence on employee security checks with some more personal interest. Alienated, lonely, and misread, Langley is afraid that he will lose himself in all the lies he is forced to tell to accommodate his new life. But just as he has something to hide, so, it seems, do his new acquaintances."

Harris' other plays include Last Stand, The Adventures of Captain Neat-o Man, In God We Trust and The Big Nil.

The performance schedule for Protected follows: Aug. 13 at 9:15 PM, Aug. 14 at 2:30 PM, Aug. 15 at 9:45 PM, Aug. 26 at 2 PM and Aug. 27 at 2 PM.

The Connolly Theater is located at 220 East 4th Street. For tickets, visit fringenyc.org.
