CHICAGO -- The Shubert Theatre, Chicago's prime venue for touring shows, has announced its new subscription series, which includes the local premiere in early-1999 of Titanic, winner of five 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

The season also includes The King and I (opening June 19), comedy magic from Penn & Teller (June 2-14), and the return engagements of Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan (Sept. 8-20) and Christopher Plummer in Barrymore (Oct. 20-Nov. 1).

Also scheduled for 1988 are the local premiere of Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk, a third go-round of Stomp and a concert engagement by Linda Eder, a native Chicagoan who made good (and is currently starring on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde).
