Although it's been up and running for several months, the Titanic website received its official launch Oct. 6 at 12:01 AM ET with a contest featuring prizes valued up to $25,000.
Visitors to the official Titanic website (http://www.dodger.com) can enter the contest that will test their knowledge of nautically-themed Broadway shows. The contest deadline is Nov. 26, with winners notified by Dec. 15. There will be 1 grand prize and 25 first prize winners.
The grand prize winner will be feted with a first-class weekend in New York City for four persons, including roundtrip airfare, two nights at the Waldorf Astoria, tickets to Titanic and The King and I, a backstage tour of the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, a bottle of Champagne Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 1989, a World Yacht cruise around New York harbor, and a gift basket of Titanic souvenirs (from the musical, not the wreckage.)
Each of the 25 first prizes will include two tickets to Titanic and a gift basket of Titanic merchandise.
Created by BuyBroadway, the site features facts and figures about the Titanic disaster as well as comprehensive information about the musical production and its cast members. The multimedia area contains sound and video clips from the show. -- By Andrew Ku
