[title of show] Makes Regional Premiere May 1 in Cleveland

News   [title of show] Makes Regional Premiere May 1 in Cleveland PlayhouseSquare and the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music (B-W) partner to present the regional premiere of [title of show] — the four-person Broadway musical that chronicles the creation of that musical — beginning May 1.

Performances, under the direction of Victoria Bussert, will continue through May 3 at the 14th Street Theatre at PlayhouseSquare in Cleveland, OH.

The show, which has been double cast, features current students in the Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre Program: "Hunter's cast" features seniors JR Bruno and Dustin Jesberger as the main characters Hunter and Jeff, juniors Maggie Roach and Emma Ruck as Heidi and Susan and freshman Rachel Jones is featured. "Jeff's cast" includes freshman Cameron Cornelius and sophomore Rod Lawrence as the main characters and Jennifer Noble, junior, is also included. Emma Ruck and Rachel Jones perform in both casts.

In a previous statement director Bussert said, "I was hoping this might happen next year. We were ecstatic and completely surprised when we got the phone call in February saying 'we got it.' I think it really speaks to young artists, that's why I wanted the students involved with it."

[title of show] — the new musical that, according to a fan-favorite song in the show, would rather be nine people's favorite thing than 100 people's ninth favorite thing — played its final performance at the Lyceum Theatre Oct. 12, 2008. Following runs at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004 and the Vineyard Theatre in 2006, the entire original cast — including co-creators Jeff Bowen (score) and Hunter Bell (book) as well as co-stars Susan Blackwell and Heidi Blickenstaff — made the leap to the Broadway stage. A Chorus Line's Michael Berresse, who helmed the acclaimed Off-Broadway run, also directed the Broadway version, which featured musical director-arranger Larry Pressgrove onstage playing the electric keyboard.
