Directed by Dexter Bullard, the production will officially open Off-Broadway Nov. 14.
The two-member cast features Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon as Felix Artifex and Mierka Girten as Esther.
Mistakes Were Made, according to press notes, is "an hilarious, but also deeply moving character study of a man seeking redemption, but inescapably creating destruction. Felix Artifex, a B-list Off-Broadway producer, gets in way over his fast-talking head when he takes on a gargantuan epic about the French Revolution which he thinks is going to be his ticket to professional and personal reclamation. While trying to land a big star for the lead role, he uses all his powers of persuasion, seduction and intimidation to strong-arm the writer into massively rewriting his play. At the same time, he attempts to reconnect with his estranged wife and untangle himself from a mess involving sheep in a distant war-torn country."
The play received its world premiere at A Red Orchid Theater in 2009 with the same cast and director.
The creative team comprises Tom Burch (sets), Tif Bullard (costumes), Keith Parham (lights), Joe Fosco (sound), Michele Spadaro (props), Nan Zabriskie (makeup) and Sam Deutsch (puppeteer). The production stage manager is Richard A. Hodge.
Producers are Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian and Tom Wirtshafter in association with Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre.
Show times will be Tuesday-Friday at 7:30 PM, Saturday at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM and Sunday at 2:30 PM.
Tickets, priced $45 for preview performances and $65 for regular performances, are available through SmartTix (212) 868-4444, www.smarttix.com, or at the Barrow Street Theatre box office (27 Barrow Street).
