As previously reported, Honeymoon in Vegas, featuring music and lyrics by Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World) and a book by Andrew Bergman, who wrote and directed the film, will run Sept. 26-Oct. 27 at the New Jersey venue.
Gary Griffin (The Color Purple) will direct the new musical based on the 1992 film comedy. Honeymoon will have choreography by Denis Jones and musical direction by Tom Murray.
The cast will be headed by Tony nominee Rob McClure, stage and screen star Tony Danza and Brynn O'Malley. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Here's how Paper Mill bills the new musical: "This insanely funny musical tells the tale of Jack Singer (Rob McClure), a guy with an extraordinary fear of marriage, who finally overcomes his phobia and goes to Las Vegas to wed his long-time girlfriend Betsy (Brynn O'Malley). Enter Tommy Korman (Tony Danza), a widowed and unscrupulous gambler looking for another shot at love. Tommy spots Betsy, who bears an uncanny resemblance to his late wife, and the game is afoot."
