News TLA Releasing Acquires Rights to "Naked Boys Singing!" Film TLA Releasing has acquired the North American theatrical and DVD rights to "Naked Boys Singing! The Movie," which is based on the long-running Off-Broadway revue.

The film, co-directed by Robert Schrock and Troy Christian, is scheduled to arrive in movie theatres in the fall. No official date has been announced for the film or DVD release.

TLA Director of Acquisitions Richard Wolff said in a statement, "'Naked Boys Singing! The Movie' is a natural fit after our successful collaborations with previous Funny Boy Films productions. With strong performances from the multi-ethnic cast, 'Naked Boys' will be a must-have for fans of the show and a fresh discovery for those looking for quality entertainment."

The film's cast features Jason Currie, Kevin Stea, Joe Souza, Joseph Keane, Phong Truong, Salvatore Vassallo, Andrew Blake James, Anthony Manough, Jaymes Hodges, and original stage cast member Vincent Zamora. The musical celebrates male nudity.

Naked Boys Singing opened at the Actor's Playhouse in New York July 22, 1999, after a successful run at the Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles. (The New York run has since been moved to Theatre 4, The John Houseman Theater, the 47th Street Theatre and the Julia Miles Theatre. It's now at New World Stages in midtown west.)

The show's contributing writers include Stephen Bates, Marie Cain, Perry Hart, Shelly Markham, Jim Morgan, David Pevsner, Rayme Sciaroni, Mark Savage, Ben Schaechter, Schrock, Trance Thompson, Mark Winkler and Bruce Vilanch. The work has played in more than 20 countries and toured theatres around the country. The score includes such numbers as "Fight the Urge," "The Bliss of a Bris," "Muscle Addiction," "Nothing But the Radio On," "Members Only" and "Window to Window." Schrock directed with choreography by Jeffry Denman.
