News To Be Or Not To Be Changes First Preview and Opening Dates The new Broadway comedy To Be Or Not To Be will play its first preview Sept. 16. The production also has a new opening night: Oct. 14 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

This is the second delay of the show's first preview. The Manhattan Theatre Club production was to have begun Sept. 11, but was changed to Sept. 13 following casting changes in the rehearsal period.

The comedy by Nick Whitby is based on the 1942 Ernst Lubitsch film of the same name, about a Polish acting troupe facing the Nazis.

Casey Nicholaw (The Drowsy Chaperone, Monty Python's Spamalot) directs a cast that features Peter Benson, Robert Dorfman, Steve Kazee, Peter Maloney, Jan Maxwell, Michael McCarty, Kristine Nielsen, Brandon Perler, David Rasche, Rocco Sisto, Jimmy Smagula and Marina Squerciati.

The Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, formerly the Biltmore, is located at 261 West 47th Street.
