News Tom Cruise Offered Role in Rock of Ages Film Academy Award nominee Tom Cruise has been offered a supporting role in New Line's film version of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages, according to deadline.com.

The role of a bartender would allow Cruise a chance to sing several 1980s rock tunes.

The actor is currently filming his role as Ethan Hunt in the fourth "Mission: Impossible" motion picture.

The musical comedy Rock of Ages borrows rock hits of the 1980s to tell the story of showbiz lovers in L.A. The score includes "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "I Wanna Know What Love Is," "Here I Go Again," "Don't Stop Believin'" and more.

Rock of Ages is written by Chris D'Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine.

The Broadway cast currently features Dee Snider, Joey Taranto, Emily Padgett, Josephine Rose Roberts, Adam Dannheisser, Mitchell Jarvis, Michele Mais, Paul Schoeffler, Derek St. Pierre, Jenifer Foote, Ericka Hunter, Jay Klaitz, Michael Minarik, Julie Nelson, Justin Matthew Sargent, Matthew Stocke, Sarrah Strimel, Becca Tobin, Andre Ward, Katie Webber and Jeremy Woodard.
