Tom Wopat's summer will be on 42nd Street, playing the gruff and demonstrative Broadway director Julian Marsh in the Tony Award-winning revised revival of the backstage musical.

Wopat, a Tony nominee for Annie Get Your Gun, and a Broadway veteran of Guys and Dolls and City of Angels, steps into the role June 21 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts. The casting was confirmed June 12. Wopat made a national name for himself as the star of TV's "The Dukes of Hazzard."

42nd Street, a 2001 Tony Award winner for Best Musical (Revival), also stars Beth Leavel as Dorothy Brock, Mary Testa as Maggie Jones, Meredith Patterson as Peggy Sawyer, Jonathan Freeman as Bert Barry and David Elder as Billy Lawlor.

Wopat was previously announced to play Frank Butler in a late June engagement of Annie Get Your Gun at the historic Barn Theatre in Augusta, MI. His most recent New York gig has been Off-Broadway's The Guys (through July 14).
