According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tomei and Reilly may join "Supderbad" star Jonah Hill for the comedy about a teenager (Hill) attempting to stomp out a romance between his mother (Tomei) and the new, recently divorced man in her life (Reilly). Formerly titled "Safety Man," Jay and Mark Duplass will make their feature film debut with the currently untitled work that is aiming for a 2009 start. The Duplass brothers will write and direct the feature for Fox Searchlight.
Tomei earned an Oscar for her work in "My Cousin Vinny" and was Oscar-nominated for the 2001 film "In the Bedroom." Her stage credits include the Broadway productions of Wait Until Dark, Salome and the 2008 revival of Caryl Churchill's Top Girls, as well as Off-Broadway's The Vagina Monologues, Demonology, Slavs! and Dark Rapture.
John C. Reilly earned a Tony nomination for his work in the 2000 Broadway revival of True West and has appeared on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire and The Grapes of Wrath. Reilly was nominated for an Oscar for his work in the film musical "Chicago." His screen credits also include "Magnolia," "Boogie Nights," "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Gangs of New York."
