News Tomei, Marvel and Parisse are Three Sisters in Starry NYPL Reading of Rare Odets Adaptation Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of playwright Clifford Odets, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is presenting a starry staged reading of Odets' adaptation/translation of Chekhov's The Three Sisters May 22.

The 6 PM presentation, part of the library's free Public Programs, will be in the library's Bruno Walter Auditorium, 111 Amsterdam Avenue, south of 65th Street.

Lawrence Sacharow will direct the reading, which will feature Marisa Tomei as Masha, Elizabeth Marvel as Olga, Annie Parisse as Irina, Ben Shenkman as Tuzenbach, Campbell Scott as Vershinin, Steven Skybell as Solyony, Brian Murray as Chebutykin, Chris Messina as Andrey, Meredith Zinner as Natasha, Kristin Linklater as Anfisa, Richard Topol as Kulygin, and Peter Kybart as Ferapont, Luke Robertson as Fedotik, and Jeffrey Glaser as Rode.

Both Richard Topol and Peter Kybart are currently appearing on Broadway in Odets' Awake and Sing!

According to the library, "Odets prepared his manuscript for The Group Theatre in 1939, but it was never performed. The unpublished and unproduced manuscript for this play is housed in the Clifford Odets Papers, Billy Rose Theatre Collection, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts."
