Directed by Kate Whoriskey, the play, which explores the effects of war on women, will begin previews Feb. 26, 2014, prior to an official opening March 18 at MTC at New York City Center – Stage I. Performances will continue through April 27.
"Heléna (Arianda) lost her husband in World War I, and with him, her financial security," press notes state. "Struggling to maintain her way of life, she becomes part of an illicit underworld. Heléna manages to separate her secret life from her public persona — that is until she crosses paths with a man who has the power to expose and ruin her."
Arianda made her Broadway debut in Born Yesterday, followed by her Tony Award-winning turn in Venus in Fur. Her film credits include "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" and "Midnight in Paris," and her TV work includes "30 Rock" and "The Good Wife."
The creative team for Tales From Red Vienna includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Anita Yavich (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design) and Thomas Schall (fight direction).
