Carmen Cusack, Tony-nominated for her performance in the Steve Martin-Edie Brickell musical Bright Star, will join Oscar winner Tom Hanks in the currently untitled Fred Rogers film inspired by the friendship between PBS staple Rogers and journalist Tom Junod.

The film, which is scheduled to arrive in movie theatres October 18, 2019, casts Cusack as producer of Rogers’ daily children’s TV show. The cast, according to Deadline, will also include Enrico Colantoni, Maryann Plunkett, Tammy Blanchard, Wendy Makkena, Sakina Jaffrey, Noah Harpster, Maddie Corman, Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi, and Chris Cooper.

In order to shoot the film, Cusack, who was seen this summer at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in the new musical Lempicka, has canceled her October 29 concert at Sony Hall in New York City.

Cusack can also be seen in a recurring role opposite Elizabeth Olson and Janet McTeer on the new Facebook Watch series, Sorry For Your Loss. The series explores grief as an unavoidable and transformative part of life and features Cusack as the partner of McTeer’s ex-husband. The series premiered September 18, with two new episodes released every Tuesday.
