Tony Award nominee Felicia Fields, of The Color Purple, will play Evillene in the new Chicago-area production of The Wiz July 7-Aug. 7 at Theatre at the Center in Munster, IN.

The funky pop Broadway musical version of L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" has book by William F. Brown and music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Charlie Smalls. Stacey Flaster will direct and choreograph the resident production.

The 1975 musical won the Tony Award as Best Musical, and is one of the first major Broadway hits to feature an all-black cast.

This Wiz will also feature James Earl Jones II as The Lion and Uncle Henry; Dwelvan David as The Wiz; Adrianna Parson as Dorothy; Jesse Dean Stanford as Tinman; Darius Colquitt as Scarecrow; Alexis J. Rogers as Addaperle; Candace C. Edwards as Glinda and Aunt Em; Vasily Deris as Winged Monkey; and ensemble members N'jameh Camara, Chris Carter, Reneisha Jone'ne Jenkins, Joelle Lamarre, Jaymes Osborne, Rebecca Pink, John Pierce Taylor and Marlon Washington.

Theatre at the Center artistic director is William Pullinsi. Musical direction is by William Underwood.

The design team includes set designer Bill Bartelt, lighting designer Tim Fandrei, sound designer Barry Funderburg, costume designer Brenda Winstead, wardrobe supervisor Alice Broughton, wig designer Kevin Barthel and props designer Libby Fandrei. The stage manager is John Grant-Phillips.
