The “show” is ABC’s new fall crime series, “Detroit 187,” which, true to its title, will be filmed there, the first-ever network series to be shot completely in Detroit. (The pilot was lensed in Atlanta.) It’ll revolve around the lives of a Detroit homicide unit (filmed in a documentary style, as previously reported on Playbill.com).
Hill, who contended for the Tony and the Outer Critics Circle Award and actually collected a Theatre World Award this month for his Broadway debut in Superior Donuts, will play the partner of Michael Imperioli, formerly of “The Sopranos.”
It being a cop show, James McDaniel is also aboard. In fact, “Detroit 187” will fill the Tuesday-at-10 slot once occupied by “NYPD Blue,” where McDaniel ruled the roost.
The cast will be called to the set for shooting July 7. View a preview of the series here.
