News Tony Nominee Karen Akers Will Perform Songs of Cole Porter at Cape May Stage Karen Akers, who appeared on Broadway in the original productions of Nine and Grand Hotel, will offer an evening of the songs of Cole Porter at Cape May Stage.

Entitled An Evening of Cole Porter: Anything Goes, the concert at the New Jersey venue is scheduled for July 22 at 8 PM.

Attendees can expect to hear such Porter classics as "I Get a Kick Out of You," "I Love Paris," "Always True to You (In My Fashion)," the title song Anything Goes and "Begin the Beguine," among others.

Karen Akers received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut as Luisa Contini in the original Tommy Tune-directed production of Nine and returned to Broadway in another Tune musical, Grand Hotel. Her feature film credits include "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Heartburn" and "Vibes," and she was seen in an episode of the hit TV series "Cheers." It's been the concert/cabaret stage where Akers has been most praised. Her solo recordings — including "Like It Was," "Presenting Karen Akers," "In a Very Unusual Way" and "If We Only Have Love" — are available on CD.

DRG Records also released Akers' newest recording, "Simply Styne."

The concert will be held at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at the corner of Bank and Lafayette Streets in downtown Cape May.
