Two-time Tony nominee Patrick Wilson stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers January 9 to talk about his upcoming film Aquaman. Wilson has traversed stage and screen for years, amassing fans in the musical theatre community as well as horror film aficionados thanks to his work in The Conjuring series.
Wilson was nominated for his first Tony in 2001 for The Full Monty and the next year for Oklahoma! Despite shooting film and television more recently, Wilson has kept his foot in musicals—just not on Broadway. He directs the musicals at his kids’ elementary school.
“Last year, it was We Are Monsters, and this year the same writers did a musical called Giants in the Sky. We like to pick age-appropriate musicals, so it's not like third-graders being Tevye,” Wilson joked.
The actor recently returned to the stage opposite Kelli O’Hara in Brigadoon at New York City Center and hinted to Playbill that he may be back for more soon. Most recently, Wilson performed on the Main Stem as Chris Keller in All My Sons in 2008. Audiences may also recognize him as Raoul from The Phantom of the Opera film as well as his guest spot on HBO’s Girls and his series regular role on FX’s Fargo.
