EW.com reports that Benanti will play a book editor in "Open Books," which is penned by "Will & Grace" writer Gail Lerner.

The series revolves around Benanti and her group of friends. No other casting has been announced.

Laura Benanti earned a 2008 Best Supporting Actress Tony Award for her performance in the title role of the Arthur Laurents-helmed revival of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. She also earned Tony nominations for her work in Swing! and Into the Woods. Her Broadway appearances also include Nine, The Sound of Music and The Wedding Singer. She was recently seen Off-Broadway in Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them.
