Benanti, according to the actress' official website, will play Denise Carling on the ABC drama, which airs at 10 PM ET; check local listings. "I had such a fun time on their set," Benanti states. "What a warm and welcoming group of people!"

The upcoming episode is titled "Home Is Where You Hang Your Holster" and is described as such: "Sam learns a politician's startling secret and finds he may have more in common with him than he could have imagined."

"Life on Mars," which airs Wednesdays at 10 PM, stars Jason O'Mara, Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli, Gretchen Mol, Jonathan Murphy and Lisa Bonet.

Laura Benanti earned a 2008 Best Supporting Actress Tony Award for her performance in the title role of the Arthur Laurents-helmed revival of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. She also earned Tony nominations for her work in Swing! and Into the Woods. Her Broadway appearances also include Nine, The Sound of Music and The Wedding Singer.
