Two-time Tony winner Judith Light (Other Desert Cities, The Assembled Parties) will appear in Facebook Watch’s new dark comedy series Queen America, alongside Oscar and Tony winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (A Little Night Music), according to Deadline.
Created, written, and executive produced by Meaghan Oppenheimer (Fear the Walking Dead), the cast also includes the previously announced Victoria Justice and Jennifer Westfeldt (Wonderful Town on Broadway).
Queen America tells the story of the most ruthless pageant coach in the state of Oklahoma, Vicki Ellis (Zeta-Jones), and self-conscious hopeful Samantha who dreams Vicki can turn her into a worthy competitor. Light will play Vicki’s former pageant coach, who first transformed her from trailer park-dweller to champion.
Light recently received her fourth Emmy nomination for her work in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. She will star in the upcoming Lifetime film Nellie Bly, and upcoming independent films Ms. White Light and Hot Air. She currently stars on Transparent, which has earned her two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. Light last appeared on the New York stage in MCC Theater’s production of All the Ways to Say I Love You.
