Karen Olivo, winner of the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Anita in the 2009 Broadway revival of West Side Story, performs in concert at the George Street Playhouse April 2.

The concert on the theatre’s mainstage begins at 7:30 PM.

Olivo's most recent appearance on the New York stage was last June in a five-show run of Jonathan Larson’s tick, tick…BOOM! as part of New York Center’s Encores! Off-Center series.

“I first met Karen when I was Associate Director for the most recent West Side Story revival, directed by my good friend Arthur Laurents,” said artistic director David Saint in an previous statement. “Her talent, both as an actor and singer, just knocked me out. I am so grateful that she will be making one of her few stage appearances here in New Brunswick for the benefit of George Street Playhouse.”

Olivo created the role of Vanessa in the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights. She also appeared on Broadway in Rent and Brooklyn.
