Tony winner Lillias White, who recently completed her Tony-nominated run in Fela!, stars in the readings, which are scheduled for Sept. 13 at 6 PM, Sept. 14 at 3 PM and Sept. 15 at 3 PM.
The new musical was written by Paul Levine, who also directs the readings. Kenny Seymour is the musical director.
Big Maybelle, according to press notes, "is a one-woman show exploring the life and music of Maybelle Smith, the celebrated 50's era blues singer best known for her hit 'Candy.'"
