Directed by Mark Brokaw, previews will begin May 1, 2014, prior to an official opening May 20.

This marks a return to the Vineyard for both Lavin and Brokaw, where she starred in Silver's The Lyons prior to its Broadway run spring 2012. The production was directed by Brokaw. Lavin earned a 2012 Tony Award nomination for her work.

Here's how the production is billed: "In Too Much Sun, Audrey Langham (Ms. Lavin) — a celebrated actress — unravels completely while preparing for a new production of Medea. With nowhere else to go, she descends upon her married daughter for a summer by the sea. She is not, however, greeted with confetti and champagne. Her arrival sets off a chain of events alternately hilarious and harrowing."

Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Lavin received a Tony Award for her performance in Broadway Bound, and she has also been nominated for Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Collected Stories and The Lyons. Her TV work includes "Sean Saves the World," "The O.C." and "Alice."

Silver's plays include Pterodactyls, Raised In Captivity, The Eros Trilogy, The Maiden's Prayer, The Altruists, Beautiful Child, My Marriage To Ernest Borgnine and The Agony and The Agony.
