News Tony Winner Matthew Broderick Is Recovering from Minor Back Surgery Two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick, who will return to Broadway later this season in the new musical Nice Work If You Can Get It, is recovering from minor back surgery, according to The New York Post.

A spokesperson for the actor told the New York daily, "Matthew had a sports injury some time ago. He pulled something in his back and recently underwent routine surgery. It was a simple procedure, he is fine and is up and about and back at home."

Nice Work If You Can Get It, boasting a score by George and Ira Gershwin, book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro and direction and choreography by Tony winner Kathleen Marshall, is scheduled for a Broadway premiere in spring 2012.

Broderick was Tony-honored for his work in both Brighton Beach Memoirs and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
