Those are the questions asked and answered in a new play by Avenue Q book writer Jeff Whitty. Entitled Suicide Weather, a reading of the comedy will be held May 2 at Makor. Jen Bender directs the 7:30 PM evening, which will feature Tony Award-winning actress Debra Monk. The play, production notes further explain, is a "comedy about unfulfilled dreams and overwhelming expectations, and the titillating hope that a healing moment could be right around the corner."
Geoffrey Soffer created the Artists Showcase Series to present readings of new plays and musicals as well as concerts featuring stars from the worlds of Broadway, cabaret, television and film. Proceeds from the concerts go to a selected charity chosen by the various artists.
Debra Monk received a Tony Award for her work in Redwood Curtain and received Tony nominations for her performances in Picnic and Steel Pier.
