Set to begin production in early 2013, Arianda (Born Yesterday, "Midnight in Paris") will co-star opposite Brazilian actor Wagner Moura ("Romance," "The Three Marias," "Paraíso Tropical") as Fellini. The cast will also include William H. Macy, Terrence Howard and Peter Dinklage.
Written and directed by Bromell ("Homeland," "Northern Exposure"), the film, according to press notes, "takes place during Fellini and Masina's visit to Los Angeles for the 1958 Academy Awards where their film 'Nights of Cabiria' won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Often called his muse, Masina was married to Fellini for fifty years until his passing in 1993. Masina died just months after her husband."
Arianda won the 2012 Tony Award for portraying the mysterious and exotic Vanda in David Ives' Tony-nominated dark comedy Venus in Fur. She also appeared on Broadway in the revival of Born Yesterday and is slated to star as Janis Joplin in a bio pic about the rock icon's life. She is also part of the upcoming film "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby."
