Jack O'Brien directed the musical playing at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman provide the score with a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan.

Pawk earned her Tony for the play Hollywood Arms. She has also been seen on Broadway in Losing Louie, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Seussical, Cabaret, Triumph of Love, Crazy For You and Mail. Her other stage credits include The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, The Paris Letter, Reefer Madness, After the Fair, Hello Again, Merrily We Roll Along, john & jen and A Little Night Music.

She joins the current cast of Hairspray which features Lance Bass as Corny, Ashley Parker Angel as Link, Shannon Durig as Tracy, Tevin Campbell as Seaweed, Darlene Love as Motormouth Maybelle, Jerry Mathers as Wilbur, Niki Scalera as Penny Pingleton, Naturi Naughton as Inez and Paul C. Vogt as Edna.

In Hairspray "it's 1962 „ the '50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion „ to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance program, 'The Corny Collins Show' and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a plus-size trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do?"

Hairspray is choreographed by Jerry Mitchell; scenic design is by David Rockwell; costume design is by William Ivey Long; lighting design is by Kenneth Posner; and sound design is by Steve C. Kennedy.

Hairspray celebrated its fifth anniversary on Broadway Aug. 15. The show earned eight 2003 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
