Rosemary Harris, a Tony winner and multiple Tony Award nominee, will join the cast of the Lincoln Center Theater production of My Fair Lady on Broadway September 11. She will step into the role of Mrs. Higgins, replacing original star Diana Rigg, who will play her final performance September 9.
Harris is a Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award winner. The U.K. native made her Broadway debut in 1952 in The Climate of Eden. Other Broadway credits include The Road to Mecca, Waiting in the Wings, An Inspector Calls, Hay Fever, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Lion in Winter, and The Royal Family.
Performances of Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady, directed by Bartlett Sher, began March 15 in the Vivian Beaumont Theater ahead of an April 19 opening.
The Broadway revival is the winner of the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League Awards for Best Revival of a Musical. The production was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won for Best Costume Design of a Musical. Rigg, already a Tony Award winner, was nominated for a 2018 Tony for her portrayal of Mrs. Higgins.
