The benefit evening in Seattle celebrates Sher's ten years as artistic director of the resident theatre company. Sher will depart his position following the 2010 season to pursue his responsibilities as resident director of Lincoln Center Theater. Kelli O'Hara, who earned Tony nominations under Sher's direction in The Light in the Piazza and South Pacific, performs; the evening also features remarks from actor and director Laurence Ballard. Ballard and Sher collaborated on such productions as The Dying Gaul, The Servant of Two Masters and The Singing Forest.

Bartlett Sher received a 2008 Tony Award for his direction of the Lincoln Center Theater revival of South Pacific. He earned Tony nominations for each of his other Broadway directorial outings, including Joe Turner's Come and Gone, The Light in the Piazza and Awake and Sing!

In addition to his work for the Broadway stage, Sher directed City Opera's Mourning Becomes Electra, as well as Prayer for My Enemy at Playwrights Horizons. He also staged Offenbach's Les Contes d’Hoffmann for the Met this season.
