Variety reports that Winokur has joined the company of "The Furst Family." Loosely based on the U.K. comedy "The Royle Family," Winokur will play the family's 23-year-old daughter, whose upcoming marriage causes quite a stir. Marissa Jaret Winokur won the 2003 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. She also appeared on Broadway in the hit revival of Grease! as well as the L.A. Reprise production of Hair. Winokur portrayed Janine in the Oscar winning film “American Beauty" and has also been seen in “Teaching Mrs. Tingle,” “Never Been Kissed,” “Scary Movie,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Moesha,” “Just Shoot Me,” “Boston Public,” “The Ellen Show,” “Felicity,” “Nikki,” “Steve Harvey,” “Get Real” and “Curb: Your Enthusiasm.”

Winokur also recently produced and co-starred in the ABC Family Channel movie "Beautiful Girl," which was the channel's top-rated made-for-television movie last year. It was also announced this past fall that the young actress will star in the third TV production of Once Upon a Mattress. Winokur will play Princess Winnifred opposite the original Princess, Carol Burnett. Burnett, who starred in Mattress on Broadway in 1959 and on television in 1964 (in black and white) and in 1972 (in color), will play the conniving Queen Aggravain. CBS, which presented the award-winning "Carol Burnett Show," will produce the television special, although production and air dates have yet to be announced.
