Auburn, who earned a Tony and Pulitzer Prize for Proof, is writing the project that will star Kline as a cardiac surgeon attempting to put his life back together after 15 years in prison for killing his mistress. Auburn and Kline will executive-produce with Gavin Polone and Judy Hofflund.
The project marks Kline's first television series. His numerous stage roles include The Pirates of Penzance, On the Twentieth Century, The Robber Bridegroom, Ivanov, Henry IV and Cyrano. He earned an Oscar for "A Fish Called Wanda." Among his films are "In & Out," "Sophie's Choice," "The Big Chill," "De-Lovely" and "Soapdish."
Auburn adapted his stage play Proof for the screen in 2005. He has also written the screenplays for 'The Lake House" and "The Girl in the Park," which he also directed.
