News Tony Winners Menzel and Rose Will Premiere Flaherty Suite at Carnegie Hall Ragtime composer Stephen Flaherty and lyricist William Schermerhorn's American River Suite — dedicated to Henry Hudson's historic voyage — which will make its world premiere April 27 at Carnegie Hall as part of The New York Pops' 26th Birthday Gala.

Tony Award winners Idina Menzel and Anika Noni Rose will premiere the piece, which was commissioned for the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks. Liz Smith will host the upcoming concert, which will honor the tenth anniversary of Feinstein's at Loews Regency and its co-creators Michael Feinstein and Jonathan Tisch.

Steven Reineke will conduct The New York Pops, and the 7 PM evening will also boast performances by Cheyenne Jackson, Brian d'Arcy James, Ashford & Simpson and cabaret favorite Feinstein.

Joining the orchestra onstage will be 20 junior high school-aged students from The New York Pops' Salute to Music education program who will perform "Conjunction Junction" and "Figure Eight" with "Schoolhouse Rock" composer Bob Dorough.

A dinner dance at the Pierre Hotel will follow the gala concert.
