Wright and Mos Def will play the two heroes of Mosley's series of mystery novels: detective Easy Rawlins and his criminal sidekick Mouse. (Ironically, these roles were played in the Mosley-inspired 1995 film "Devil in a Blue Dress" by Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle. Cheadle played Mos Def's role in Topdog Off-Broadway prior to the play's Broadway run.) Mosley will pen the script. Rosalie Swedlin and Debra Martin Chase will produce.

According to Variety, Wright and Def haven't decided who'll play which role.

"Little Scarlet" takes place in L.A. right after the 1965 Watts riots where "White cops, afraid to poke into the murder of a black woman when the suspect is a white man she sheltered, draft Rawlins to investigate."

Wright has also starred on the New York stage in Julius Caesar and This is How It Goes. Mos Def appeared in Parks' Fucking 'A'.
