The Fringe of Toronto Festival has drawn its 67 shows for this July's event out of 336 contenders. Here are some of the better-known names and interesting projects that made it:
SNAP Productions' Richard Sanger and Naomi Campbell with 60/90; the return of Del Arte Productions, this time with Five Alive, a claustrophic musical comedy about five Titanic survivors lost at sea on a life boat; La Companie Petit Jeu with Marilyn The Mermaid, a new piece by Phillippa Domville; Cobblestone Theatre and Mixed Company's presentation of a medieval musical comedy The Legend of Harris Hoot (which may or may not be a stab at Ontario's Premier Mike Harris); Ken Burn's Comedy Revue 5.
Joining these local artists will be others from Montreal, Winnipeg, New York, California, Quebec, Vancouver, Victoria, Brazil, South Korea, Bulgaria, The Ukraine, Australia, Japan and England.
The Fringe of Toronto Festival runs from July 2 to 12. Call 416-534-5919 for tickets.
