The Gathering," a festival of the world of women in theatre commences Sept. 16 for a two-week mini festival in Toronto. During the two weeks, ten plays will be offered, written specifically for the festival, from dramatic to downright silly. Two of the titles are Christiane: Stations in a Painter's Life and Mid-Life Crisis.

Christiane concerns the life and death of German-born painter Christiane Pflug who died of an overdose north of Toronto in 1972.

Mid-Life Crisis is performed by an a cappella comedy trio and deals with, you guessed it, a satirical look at turning 40.

Both shows are at the Factory Studio Cafe, 125 Bathurst St. 416 534-2827 for tickets ($10) and information about the other eight plays in The Gathering.
