News Toronto's New Angelwalk Troupe Will Present Altar Boyz and Last Five Years Angelwalk Theatre, Toronto's newest theatre company, announced an inaugural season to include two small-cast musicals. The company will produce the Toronto premiere of the hit Off-Broadway musical comedy Altar Boyz and Jason Robert Brown's marriage-minded musical The Last Five Years.

Angelwalk Theatre is a new Equity-affiliated professional theatre company dedicated to producing "artistically exciting theatrical works, with a special focus on musical theatre." The company "will provide opportunities for both emerging and established Canadian theatre professionals."

Angelwalk Theatre's home will be the Studio Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. It will present two shows annually. Artistic producer Brian Goldenberg announced the season on July 21. Casting and creative teams will be announced.

Altar Boyz, the "hysterical spoof about a fictitious boy-band on the last night of their national 'Raise the Praise' tour," will play Sept. 23-Oct. 11. The show has book by Kevin Del Aguila, music and lyrics by Gary Adler & Michael Patrick Walker, conception by Marc Kessler & Ken Davenport.

The Last Five Years, with book, music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, is "an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years." The Last Five Years runs from May 8-23, 2010.
