The jazz band is joined each week by a Broadway performer, who offers tunes from the Great American Songbook. The series will next welcome Angel Desai, who played Marta in the recent revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company.
Traina and his Quintet have already been joined by Howard McGillin, Darcie Roberts, Terri White and Robyn Hurder. Two shows are offered each Tuesday night, beginning at 9:30 PM and ending at midnight.
Joe Traina, an accomplished clarinetist and saxophonist, leads the Joe Traina Quintet on "Tea for Two," his newest CD that was released in December 2006. The recording features a mix of Broadway show tunes and jazz standards. He is joined on the 12-track disc by Mike Karn (tenor saxophone), Tim Regusis (piano), Scott Neumann (drums) and Sean Smith (bass).
Angel Desai was seen on Broadway in Company and Off-Broadway in Manic Flight Reaction, The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin, The Architecture of Loss, The Winter's Tale, The Antigone Project, Gum, This End Up: A User's Manual for Lovers of Asians, Stop Kiss, Henry VIII and Angelique. Her screen credits include "Briar and Graves," "Law and Order," "The Education of Max Bickford," "As the World Turns," "Guiding Light," "The War Within," "Heights," "Black Knight" and "Robot Stories."
